Assisted-living facility resident charged with beating resident to death with cane
A resident of an assisted living home in North Carolina has been charged with murder in the beating death of another resident.
A surveillance video at the facility shows that the 55-year-old resident hit a 27-year-old resident several times with a metal cane last month.
The police chief says the owners of the home first thought the injury occurred when the younger man fell as he tried to get away from the attacking resident.
But investigators say the arrested man told them he hit the dead resident in the head and shoulders with his cane because he cursed at him and kicked his dog. For more, read the story.
