Elder Abuse and Vulnerability Dramatically Increasing in One State
According to the Department of Social Services in one state, 11,123 instances of elder abuse were reported in 2017. Examples of elder abuse can range from neglect, exploitation, emotional and physical abuse, sexual abuse, and other forms. In the past seven years, the number of investigations in one state have increased by more than double.
According to the Justice Department, one in ten seniors in America are abused or exploited. While numbers of reported abuse continue to rise, experts claim some abuse remains unreported for various reasons. For more, read the story.
