Health and Safety Deficiencies in Nursing Home Facility Result in over $85,000 Fine
A nursing home in one state just received a hefty fine for several health and safety deficiencies. The fine was one of this state’s largest penalties in the past three years. Among the deficiencies were nursing staff’s failure to take proper measures to stop the spreading of preventable infections, inadequate staff training, and low staff counts.
A more serious offense was the nursing staff’s failure to disinfect shared medical equipment between various patients at the facility. Among those patients that used the improperly disinfected and/or soiled equipment, some were noted to have bloodborne diseases. For more, read the story.
