Hospital Sues Nursing Home After They Allegedly "Dumped" Patient

A hospital has sued a nursing home it says transferred a brain-damaged patient and refused to take the patient back after treatment. The State Department of Inspections and Appeals is now looking into the allegation that nursing home broke state and federal laws regarding patient transfers.

Hospital officials say the nursing home transferred a male resident of the nursing home to the hospital in October 2008.  When the man's condition improved, the nursing home wouldn't take him back. He died earlier this year still at the hospital.

The suit seeks  reimbursement for the hospital's costs, plus punitive damages. For more, read the story.
