Negligence in Chicago Nursing Home Leads to Patient's Death; Family files-suit against Facility
A 66-year-old male patient bled to death at the Aperion Care in Forest Park, a Chicago nursing home, after receiving inadequate care from the facility following his kidney transplant a month earlier. Before his preventable death, the family stated that doctors were pleased with the man's recovery.
According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Aperion Care in Forest Park has remained chronically understaffed.The nursing home was also noted of having issues with medication errors, mishandled transfers of patients, and ignoring daily grooming and hygiene care of residents.
A lawsuit was filed by the family seeking monetary damages for seventeen different care failures and negligence by the facility.
