New Laws For Nursing Home Standards Of Care On the Way

Nursing homes have experienced dramatic changes as the years have passed. They are planning to change soon due to new regulations being proposed by Obama. There is growing concern for the way nursing homes are being facilitated due to the high amounts of reported abuse and neglect. With the new laws coming, there is an expectation of a higher standard. Since nursing homes have now become a $100 billion industry, there is more pressure to ensure the elderly are receiving the right care.

 Although standards in healthcare for nursing homes receiving federal funding through Medicare and Medicaid have been in place since the 1970's, an increase in the standard is what must occur to reduce the level of abuse and neglect occurring today.
