Nursing Home Abuse Leads To Lawsuit
Federal prosecutors have filed a lawsuit against a nursing home chain for false state and Medicare claims for a five year period and failure to provide care in six of their nursing homes. During that time the nursing homes allowed many areas of neglect to affect patient care. Low staffing and medical supplies led to medication errors, failure to prevent falls and to provide wound care.
Prosecutors argue that the nursing home facilities were "aware of the problems and the resulting adverse health effects on residents but recklessly disregarded them, were deliberately ignorant of them, and ultimately, failed to resolve these problems, or to do so in a timely fashion."
