Nursing Home Citations Lead To Large Fine, Threaten Federal Finding
ring A facility in one state has received three times the highest typical fine amount because of two patients's deaths. The patients were allowed to fall out of their beds. One patient sustained two broken legs and died two days later. The other patient died overnight after falling from a bed and after ordered by a physician, the patients failed to observe the patient through the night for any injuries or concerns.
The facility has worked to correct the issues to the state's approval, but the fine has remained. The federal agency offering reimbursement dollars for patient care has threatened to deny those funding due to the recent citations. For more, read the story.
