Responding to a report we shared earlier this week that the family of a deceased former resident intends to sue over alleged abuse caught on camera, a spokesman for the nursing home said yesterday the  facility has a "zero tolerance" policy for improper treatment. The family of a former resident plans to sue based on a video of a former aide beating the paralyzed woman on Jan. 15. The woman died on Jan. 16.

In a statement yesterday, a spokesman for medical center which operates the nursing home, said officials at the facility took all the proper steps once they were told about the alleged abuse. Prior to the incident, the facility had been in compliance with all federal and state licensing regulations that apply.

The woman's daughter said she put the camera in her mother's room after repeatedly finding bruises on her. she also said complaints to the nursing home and calls to state officials got her nowhere. For more, read the story.
