A civil lawsuit against two former employees of a veteran's home, both already facing criminal misdemeanor charges, has been filed by the family of a resident allegedly victimized during a prank in July. The resident's children filed the complaint this week on behalf of their father against former staff members of the facility.

The suit claims that employees reportedly inserted "a suppository in the rectum of (the resident) for purposes of a practical joke" on the next shift. All of which they claim caused emotional harm to the elderly Alzheimer's patient.  It further alleges that the resident's nervous system and mental faculties were severely and permanently injured and shocked from the incident and, as a result, he has become "sick, sore, lame and disordered."

the two employees were each charged in January with Class A misdemeanor battery by county prosecutors following a lengthy state police investigation into the incident. The maximum sentence foe the charge is up to one year in jail and a $2,500 fine. For more, read the story.
