Nursing Home Hearing Will Decide If Facility Keeps Its License
A hearing is slated for a nursing home regarding the death of eight nursing home patients following a hurricane. The hearing will address whether or not the nursing home will lose its license as a result of allowing patients to remain in the facility after the power went out. Air conditioning was not running as a result leaving patients in extreme heat.
The hearing comes from a complaint filed by the state noting that the facility “failed to recognize the potential health risk of the rising internal facility temperatures and humidity, affecting vulnerable elderly residents.” For more, read the story.
