Nursing Home Patients Rescued From Poor Conditions After Hurricane

A nursing home administrator was held in hand cuffs as patients were escorted from the facility due to poor quality care conditions following a hurricane. The patients were rescued by police and local citizens concerned for their care and safety. An employee commented on the dire state of the nursing home prior to the rescue saying, "We need to get them out of here. They need health care. ... We don't have much food. We've got water but we need the right foods to feed them, and medication administration."

"Medical documents will show some of the individuals sustained injury as a direct result of the catastrophic flooding and the evacuation finally orchestrated at the last minute by citizens," the affidavit states. The nursing home administrator is being accused of criminal negligence or recklessness. For more, read the story.
