Nursing Home Volunteer Recognized For Service
After serving for 25 years, a woman has been recognized for her volunteerism to nursing homes, named State Nursing Home Adult Volunteer of the Year for 2015. She started a ministry that offers inspirational therapy to nursing home patients using music and sound equipment to offer uplifting songs in order to lift the patients' spirits. Under her leadership, the ministry has offered over $250,000 in CDs, cassette tapes, books on tape, DVDs, and cassette tape players.
The ministry has been able to service over 46 nursing homes in the past 25 years. Music selections were inspired by what her mother enjoyed. “Our story is like the five loaves and two fishes in the Bible. Little gifts have been multiplied as people have given donations of items needed and others have worked to deliver materials to nursing homes,” said the founder. For more, read the story.
