Ohio Pushes for Cameras in Nursing Homes

A man in Cleveland, Ohio is pushing state lawmakers to back legislation that would allow cameras to survey nursing home facilities. Steve Piskor, the son of resident Ester Piskor, used surveillance cameras to catch nursing home employees in acts of abuse towards his elderly mother. 

After Ester Piskor began showing signs of abuse and neglect at an Ohio nursing facility, her son made the decision to set up a hidden camera in her resident room. The evidence from the hidden camera showed that Mr. Piskor's suspicions were correct and that his mother was being abused and neglected by nine different nursing aides of the facility. Although all of the nine nursing aides of Mrs. Piskor's nursing home were fired, only two were convicted of their crimes.
