  • Jury Finds Skilled Nursing Facility Responsible for a Patient’s Fall-Related Injuries

    A jury recently determined that a nursing home facility was responsible for the pain and suffering during one of its patients’ final days alive. While one nurse aide was changing the victim’s bed sheets, the victim fell from the bed and sustained serious head injuries.   • One State’s Attorney General Initiates a State-wide Investigation of Nursing Homes

    One patient’s tragic story at a nursing center initiated an investigation of nursing homes in one state. The incident began when a caretaker of a skilled nursing facility neglected to turn on a patient’s bed alarm, permitting the patient to get up and walk unsupervised.     An audit of nursing homes in one state reveal that incidents causing injuries and risk of death are on the rise. Over the past few years, the number of incidents has risen significantly.
