    A wrongful death lawsuit that has been pending for several years recently reached a settlement agreement just hours before the case was to be tried in court. According to the lawsuit, the decedent, who was a retired Circuit Court judge, was admitted to a hospital for an infection and was later discharged to a nursing home facility.   • Jury Finds Skilled Nursing Facility Responsible for a Patient’s Fall-Related Injuries

    A jury recently determined that a nursing home facility was responsible for the pain and suffering during one of its patients’ final days alive. While one nurse aide was changing the victim’s bed sheets, the victim fell from the bed and sustained serious head injuries.     A nursing home that acknowledged legal responsibility for the untimely death of one elderly patient is now counter-suing the family of the deceased for his unpaid expenses. A jury has already awarded $1 million for the family of the victim from the lawsuit that was filed against the nursing home.
