  • Retired Judge's Wrongful Death Lawsuit Settles Day Before Trial

    A wrongful death lawsuit that has been pending for several years recently reached a settlement agreement just hours before the case was to be tried in court. According to the lawsuit, the decedent, who was a retired Circuit Court judge, was admitted to a hospital for an infection and was later discharged to a nursing home facility.   • Family of a Victim of Nursing Home Neglect is Counter-sued for Unpaid Medical Expenses

    A nursing home that acknowledged legal responsibility for the untimely death of one elderly patient is now counter-suing the family of the deceased for his unpaid expenses. A jury has already awarded $1 million for the family of the victim from the lawsuit that was filed against the nursing home.
