Certified Nurse Aides Arrested, Charged With Abusing Elderly Nursing Home Patients
In unrelated incidents, two women in the same town have been arrested for allegedly abusing residents at two nursing homes. One woman is
accused of kicking an 88-year-old resident in his ribs while she worked
as a certified nurse aide at the nursing home. The other woman
is accused of using a 76-year-old resident’s nightgown to tie his neck
and legs, leaving him unable to move, while she was a certified nurse
aide at a separate nursing home.
Both women
have been terminated from their positions. They were charged with
endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person
and willful violation of the health laws. The maximum penalty for each
charge is one year in prison.

The allegations against these certified nurse assistants are horrific. The nursing homes that employed them are responsible for any and all damages caused by their criminal actions, including physical injuries, pain and suffering, and embarrassment. Adequate staffing of nursing homes with qualified and caring personnel is a major concern in these types of cases. If you suspect physical or mental abuse of your loved one in a nursing home by an employee of the nursing home or another resident, you need to report that immediately to the police, the nursing home, and the health authorities which monitor nursing homes.
